Maksim Mamsikov

“Out of Focus”

26.12.2014 – 05.02.2014

NT-ART Gallery is glad to announce a solo show by Maksim Mamsikov, presenting new paintings united by one theme. Like before the exhibition is featured with figurative painting and delicate work with color.
Mamsikov’s painting always represents reflection upon world events, albeit it is more about the emotional experience, not the direct retranslation of a particular plot.

Respectively, Mamsikov creates a series of ordinary people portraits, his contemporaries. All of them, or more correct to say all of us, are in a state of perplexity, uncertainty, complete ignorance of the future. Everyone’s personal experiences are the same, regardless their social status, age or believes. All of us suffer confusion and weakness facing the difficulties and dangers.

One cannot spot a large historical narrative here and there is no sharp political satire, but a nagging and frightening sense of lack of solid ground under their feet transmits in full. A paralyzing and all-encompassing feeling of frustration has sharpened recently and, according to the artist, is always present in person’s life. It escalates only at the time of severe shocks.
