Igor Gusev. Aesthetics and Discipline. (Exhibition catalogue 30.04.2008-25.05.2008)

Igor Gusev is one of those young and successful artists, who became integral representatives of contemporary art. His status was confirmed by participation in different prestigious exhibitions, such as “A Farewell to Arms” (Art Arsenal, 2004), which became the basis for PinchukArtCentre Collection; annual exhibition “TOP 10” “Kiev Fine Art” (2007, 2008) where, according to the title, works of 10 best Ukrainian artists were exhibited. He also collaborates with very authoritative (and very expensive) English gallery “ArtLondon”. What is so extraordinary in Gusev’s creativity that attracts attention of both art critics and usual viewers? First of all it is high quality painting (Igor is really good at all drawing techniques – from hyperrealism and impressionism to expressive and avant-garde stylisation), rich imagination, lightness (opposite to weariness), irony, intrigue and bright creative individuality. As a result we get “magic of perception”, which turns the artist into the Creator and his works into masterpieces.
Igor Gusev is very popular at international and national art markets, so Odessa citizens can’t enjoy his exhibitions very often. His last solo exhibition took place in Odessa in 2002 in the Museum of Western and Eastern Art. Certainly Odessits miss his works, so it is very pleasant to announce that the opening of absolutely new project of Igor Gusev “Aesthetics and Discipline” will take place in NT-Art Gallery on April 30, 2008.
