DYMCHUK GALLERY AND YURIY YEGOROV`S FUND ANNOUNCE OPEN CALL 2019

Dymchuk Gallery and Yuriy Yegorov`s Fund are delighted to announce OPEN CALL 2019 for emerging artists.

The theme of this year`s contest is reality. In the era of post-truth politics, death facts, fake news, conspiracy theories and paranoia, big corporations and governmentcreate a reality that meets their demands and creates conditions for manipulation. In the end, reality is the result of texts and images, not their starting point. Can the artist resist this process, or vice versa – creating fictitious worlds provides more tools for manipulation?

From November 3 to December 25, applications are accepted from artists and art groups. Projects can consist of works in different genres and media. The works that are not conceptually incorporated in the project, but are isolated pieces, are not accepted for consideration. The winner of OPEN CALL 2019, chosen by an international jury, will be given the opportunity to implement the project in Dymchuk Gallery in the spring of 2019 with technical, media and financial support of the gallery.

The purpose of OPEN CALL contest is the development of contemporary Ukrainian art, as well as the implementation of experimental and critical projects that are difficult to realize without institutional support. The contest is held annually since2016. During this time more than 400 applications were reviewedThe winners of the contest were Kinder AlbumYevhen Samborsky and Fantastic Little Splash.

Terms of participation:

· The artist is under the age of 35;

· The artist provides a fundamentally new project that has not been implemented before;

· The works included in the project can be executed in various media;

· Priority will be given to critical research.

The application should consist of:

– Artist`s bio;

– Portfolio;

– Description of the project (600 words max.);

– Technical specification of the project;

– Estimated budget.

The winner will be announced no later than January 15 2019. The realization is scheduled for Spring 2019.

The application should be submitted in PDF format up to 5MB (file name – Open Call_Name of the applicant) to opencall@dymchuk.com. Mark Open Call 2019 and your name as the subject of your letter.
