NT-Art Gallery opens a new special project “Battle for Shastya” as a part of the main program of IV Odessa Biennale of contemporary Art. The exhibition will represent the works by famous Ukrainian artists Bondero and Berezhko.
Special project `Battle for Shastya` will introduce viewers with fusion of classic surrealism and pop-art, new stage in understanding the social art – surreal neo-pop. Working at the frontiers of different trends, artists use techniques of both directions to spread established concept. The exposition raises actual problems of our time – what is a person and how to be yourself in the world of vulgarized clichés.
The main thesis of project of the IV Odessa Biennale, «MANIFESTO», sets ambitious objectives to participants to create the most artistic formulation of responsible personal expression, taking into respecting the principles of tolerance.
IV Odessa Biennale of Contemporary Art brings together more than 50 individual authors and artistic groups from Lviv, Kyiv, Odessa, Sevastopol, Kharkiv. Also, except Ukrainian artists, it will be attended by artists from Germany, Israel, Poland, Romania, USA, France, Czech Republic.
Vadim «Bondero» Bondarenko – ukrainian artist. Born in 1967 in Baku. In 1986 graduated in Baku art school on a specialty “Painting”.
He studied at the Moscow Art School named after Stroganoff. In 2010 he wrote the novel `hypostasis` about artists in Odessa, Kyiv and Moscow.
Irina Berezhko graduated in Willem de Kooning Academie in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Works and lives in Netherlands and Ukraine. Takes part in international festivals and group exhibitions, also acts as curator.
